I’m someone who genuinely loves keeping records — writing down my various thoughts in words is part of my primal urges.
Before undergrad, my daily life and social life were fairly interesting, so I got to record plenty of things purely for my own amusement, and present-day me still finds them fun to reread. During undergrad, though, my interactions with other people dropped off a lot; most of the time it was just me sitting in some seat, facing a computer screen and my own reflection in it. The urge to record never went away, though — even as I strained harder to capture certain moments, they were clearly fading away in an irreversible way. In early 2024 I registered a WeChat official account and wrote a few posts, but most of them were projections of some negative emotion or another. That wasn’t deliberate on my part — that’s just how it was.
The Turning Point
Since most of what I used to record had already turned negative, I figured I might as well shift the focus of my recording onto tech. After reading through the technical blogs a few friends were running, the idea of starting a personal blog had hit me early on — but it felt like it would eat up so much time that I kept putting it off.
The trigger for all of this was starting to use Claude Code, and discovering that its abilities could apparently already get a personal blog built with barely any brainpower from me. Strike while the iron is hot — I opened CC one evening, picked a template, and vibe-coded on and off for three or four hours, and the thing finally looked like something (btw, to my delight, this high-intensity vibe session didn’t even touch the 5-hour quota of my cheapest domestic API).
The nice thing about this template is that from here on, updates only require writing Markdown and the pages generate themselves. Though I haven’t yet explored the standalone-domain-outside-the-GitHub-repo part — anyway, let it run and see.
And of course there’s another layer of meaning: in the LLM era, I honestly can’t tell anymore which of the output is actually mine. So this place also counts as a patch of pure land in my head where I escape the LLMs — even though the whole workflow still can’t live without them.
What Will Live Here
I’m still not sure what exactly will end up on this blog — maybe a grab bag of tech explorations, or abstract shards of thought?
Honestly, this place feels more free to me. Maybe I’ll put up some fun stuff too — I even want to write a bit of music reviewing or daily-life sharing.
